Good Ole Hufu

Way back in the days of my first blog I posted about Hufu and, just because, I'm reposting it here. (Note that at the time of the writing, 3 December 2005, I was all about texting and emailing all in lowercase. Once I began my blog, I did the same thing.)

so lady miss brooklyn and i were hangin' at the workplace and she told me that a new website was discovered by her this morning. it's www.EatHufu.com and i highly recommend checking it out. hufu is a new vegan product for recovering cannibals, as well as others who are seeking what is called 'a healthy alternative to human flesh'. the website features food, fashion, films, and fabulous recipes, such as Lechter's Liver with Fava Beans. it goes without saying that the makers of this new and exciting product clearly have an excellent sense of humor and don't mind spreading it around. however, amidst the humor and t-shirts, there were some interesting stories. obvious ones were the donner party and the andes mountain plane crash(think ethan hawke in 'alive' circa 1993). but i found a quote from Marvin Harris, author of "The Abominable Pig and the Sacred Cow," that i thought was rather interesting. he states, "The real conundrum is why we who live in a society which is constantly perfecting the art of mass-producing human bodies on the battlefield find humans good to kill but bad to eat." thought provoking, no? anyways, me and brooklyn, being the good little vegetarian/vegans that we are, have planned our own little cannibalistic night: some hufu with bone suckin' sauce and a lovely glass of vampire wine. perhaps we'll take in a viewing of 'soylent green' or 'land of the dead'??? maybe dine to the sounds of 'timothy' by the buoys or read aloud from 'keep the river to your right' by one-time cannibal tobias schneebaum. who knows what the night will hold for us!
