Jim Thorpe with Kay

Last Friday I picked up Kayla, we stopped at Goldie's in University City for shakes, fries, and falafel and headed off to Jim Thorpe, PA. Traffic was outrageous but we could have cared less - Johnny Mathis playing in the background, good grub, and great conversation kept us on cloud nine. It downpoured once we reached JT, but we found parking and made it to most of the shops on my list before they closed. We have decided that we simply must return in the Fall and spend the entire day there.

Turkish Coffee Tahina Shake for me and Mint Chocolate for Kay!

Peepod pit stop selfie at the Allentown rest stop where we successfully replaced my windshield wipers, front and rear, before the rain hit!

Lovely Broadway in the rain.

First stop was to Emporium of Curious Goods which was the absolute highlight of the trip. Kay scored a beautiful ceramic plaque of multi-coloured koi fish.

Muggle's Mug Coffee Shoppe was so cute (especially the bathroom mirror!) and even had a vegan cupcake for me! Kayla said the dark chocolate caramel latte was sensational.

Sellers Books was a wonderful shop - The Smiths played in the background and I picked up books both new and used. Small but charming place with a very nice fella behind the counter.

Then it was a long drive back to Philly, but not before one last selfie.
