Play It Again

I am absolutely loving this book! Great characters, excellent dialogue, superb writing and just a solid, fun detective novel. Wish that Little Stevie Bogart wrote more fiction because damn, he's got the chops.

Lucy Turns Seven!

Last night Lucy had her bday party at a cool kids place over in PA. I got to catch up with some of my brother's friends and mostly hung out with Jackson, who won 11+ plastic duckies. Lucy got a Instax camera and, like everything she does, excelled at capturing her friends and family. The party was Harry Potter themed and the gift bags for guests included a wand pencil, glasses, paper with invisible ink pen, and even a Dum-Dum lollipop. (Mine was fruit punch!) Clearly once they were handed out, silly selfies began!

Tom Selleck

Frida

book shops, unique theaters, rebellious works of art and cocoa puffs

What do you hope I will always remember about you?
That I was a hoot to hang out with.

My answers for Wayne:

In what part of the world do you imagine me being the happiest?
Reclaiming the old house down the shore and being close to your other sister and her family, near to the sea, but not too-too far from the rest of us!

What would you use to lure me into a trap?
I'd tempt you with some ancient texts and scrolls!

In a perfect world, who would I end up marrying?
Helen Mirren! Or maybe Emma Stone.

What is your favourite moment we've shared?
Our first Vincent Price Day together plus when we were talking and smoking in the Jeep on the way to and from NC.

What name do you think suits me better than my own?
Douglas/Doug was the first name that came to mind. Douglas Eric.

What things remind you of me?
Harry Chapin, religious stuff, ska music, ABBA, olives!, Vincent Price, the c-word b/c you were the first person I knew who said it out loud and I'd only just learned it when reading Silence of the Lambs, spicy food, and Dad jokes.

What do you hope I will always remember about you?
That I was a genuinely caring person who admired and respected the hell out of you and thoroughly enjoyed your company.

Back to LesbiVeggies with Jax

On April 22nd Jackson and I went out for brunch so that he could try their fabulous new pancakes. We pigged out and even split the most expensive lemonade ever. Six bucks. It was delicious but Jesus, for that price I coulda bought a milkshake. After brunch we went to check out Roads and Rails on Station Ave and it was a bit of a let down. But still, it was cool to look up and see the planes hanging from the ceiling and the cool trains. Then to Walgreen's where I bought Jackson a red nose. It was absurd but he was super cute with it on!

Jackson's Vegan Hungry Man

And I, of course, had to have my zuke frits!

We shared the Strawberry Cheesecake Pancakes for dessert!

41 - The Wish

The Wish

We always wanted more. More money. More candy. More excitement. We wanted more of everything and for a little while, we got it. When a genie offered us one wish, we thought we were clever when we answered with a single word: more. And although we had more cash, snacks, and prizes, we also felt more anger, fear, and envy. We had more worries, arguments, and sleepless nights. As our homes became cluttered with things, so many emotions jammed our heads that we could not think. We worried that we might lose our things, that we did not have enough. Our lives had become so crowded and complicated that soon we could not move. So we began throwing things away. With each gadget and trinket that we put in the trash, our heads cleared a little, and each day we found ourselves worrying a litle less and smiling a little more.

Simplicity provides inner strength. Look for areas where reduction might be beneficial and consider how your character may be refined.
