Happy Camp Blobfest!

A local brewery does a Blobfest beer!

Amy's co-worker took part in the Blobfest Run!

BONUS: This Blob inspired cake that Vegan Treats made in August of 2024.

If life continues and we are not all living in a New World Order next year, I might see if Vegan Treats can cater my personal Blobfest and order that dark and goofy creation all for me!

Blobfest 2025!

Being that it is July, that I'm postmenopausal and still kicking off hot flashes with no warning, and that crowds give me the frets, I decided, like I have for the past five years, to celebrate Blobfest at home. As far as I'm concerned, it's way better than participating in the real thing. Maybe when I'm finally in my old shrew era and chilly all the time, I'll go to Phoenixville. For now, I'm steering clear. To start off The Colonial's 25th anniversary of Blobfest, I mixed myself a mock Blob-tail (essentially a Shirley Temple) and put on the library's Criterion Collection edition DVD of The Blob. Doesn't matter how many times I've seen it, it is still such a fun flick. Tomorrow I will re-watch it with the commentaries and put on Evil Dead II and Flash Gordon since they are to be played over the weekend at the actual event. (Sidenote: So this year's theme is Camp Blobfest. What in the actual hell does Flash Gordon have to do with Camp? Oh my gosh. I just got it. Because it's campy. Brilliant!) But for tonight, I'm queuing up a double feature of The Addams Family, since I haven't seen either of them. It's only wise to watch the first film before the second. Right?

Look at how cute that lil' Blobber is!!!!!!! AND they're bilingual!

Photos from videos of last night's run out, kidnapped from the Blobfest Instagram account. It does look fun....

post script: I couldn't really get in to The Addams Family last night so I watched Flash Gordon in all it's silly, campy, glory!! Brian Blessed FOREVER!!!

Artsy Blob!

I saw this "meatball" at Grounds for Sculpture in May and thought at first that it was The Blob. But no, it was the meatball that rolled off a mountain of noodles. I don't care, art is subjective and I say it's a Blob from outerspace!!

(I snapped this photo of the info for Noodle Mountain but I still have yet to read it. Talk about a lazy bitch...)

Blobfest 2024!

Last year I celebrated solo so this year I just had to be reunited to host Blobfest with Jax. When we went to see The Towering Inferno a couple weeks back, we posed for pix at the sign celebrating the 25th annual Blobfest. We both agree that celebrating it at home and on our own terms is really the best. No crowds, we choose the lineup of bonus films and the grub! This time we went with a double feature - The Blob and The Tingler. Jackson said he liked The Tingler more because the acting, especially from the divine Vincent Price, was better.

Blobtails!! (otherwise known as a Shirley Temple)

Re-enactment of the Blob crashing to Earth! (really it's vegan dirt)

June 2024 Donations

The County Theater

I decided it was time to become a member of The County Theater in Doylestown, PA. I've only been there once, but really want to support them and the wonderful classic films they show.

The County Theater is YOUR nonprofit, community-based, member-driven movie theater specializing in art house films, classic film restorations, and local partnerships. We are committed to excellent programming and to meaningful community outreach.

Our mission: Exhibit art, independent and world films; Educate the community about the film and media arts; Serve as a community and charitable resource for the arts; Preserve the historic theaters as cultural resources.

The County Theater is a place where film comes to life by engaging the community with guest speakers, lively discussions and educational programming, and by screening movies for all ages. Join or renew your membership today to keep great films in our community and support a cultural landmark.

Members enjoy reduced admission prices and free admission to many of our special programs. Sustaining level memberships provide additional support to the theater and enjoy additional benefits. Be a member at the level which is right for you - all of which are tax-deductible.

Blobfest is right around the corner and I felt compelled to donate to them once again since they are my fave movie theatre ever!

Blobfest 2023 is a-Comin'!

Looks like this year's Blobfest will be celebrated in Massachusetts with Natalia! She's coming to the mainland and we hope to spend about a week together. I'm hoping that Friday July 14th that we can hang out at my rental and watch The Blob and maybe another fun film like The Tingler or The Curse of Frankenstein. Perhaps in 2024 I'll rent a place in Phoenixville for the weekend and check out the festivities in person.

Blobfest 2022!

Even though Blobfest is in person this year, there was no way I was gonna deal with the heat and all those people. So instead, I chose to take the day off work and decided that me and Jax would celebrate our very own Blobfest. I wore my Colonial Theatre Blob t-shirt and loaned Jackson my 2020 Home Edition Blobfest shirt. The line up of films for us were The Blob, The Ghost and Mr. Chicken and E.T.. We even made drinkies and grub to go with each feature. We had Shirley Temples and called them Blobtails, ate homemade (by us and Nana Rose) vegan dirt with a cherry as the Blob crash landing on Earth, then it was fake chicken and fries for The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, and of course, for E.T. we had to have Reese's Pieces.

We finished up around 8:45pm and both thoroughly enjoyed the whole day! Jax liked all three movies but thought The Ghost and Mr. Chicken was the best of them all and not scary like last time. The bonus was getting to see Syd and Zach for a bit and snuggle with Count Rugen, the six fingered kitty. Hopefully Jax and I will make this a tradition and celebrate The Blob and all things fun and spooky next July!
