Christmases Past

Here are a bunch of random holiday photos of my Da's side of the family. Seeing these makes me miss Grandad and Nana Irma so much. They always made every visit supremely special.

Inky

Growing up, my Dad and his family had a black cocker spaniel named Inky who was adored by all. Here is a collection of photos featuring the faithful pup!

Merry Christmas from Nana Irma

Back in late May I was cleaning out some old boxes and found my collection of cameras, including three SD cards. Two were blank but the third one was a bit of a goldmine. I had given Nana Irma my first digital camera so she could take as many photos as she wanted without having to worry about wasting any film. She eventually returned the camera as she didn't like it as much as her old 35mm one. Here's the photos she took of her last home, before moving into assisted living, and the best is the fireplace. Those candles hanging on either side belonged to Aunt Helen and back in 2010, Nana said they were 75 years old. Note that they are still working and looking fabulous.

(The ceramic tree that in the last year or so of her life, she liked to display it all year round in her room.)

(The student lamp on the floor beside the little table is now mine and sits behind my computer monitor. I adore it.)

The Driveway 2005

Here is a classic photo from Nana Irma. We were all at Uncle Roy and Aunt Vicky's for probably Memorial Day or Fourth of July and clearly Nana was tickled by all the vehicles lined up in the driveway. I love what she wrote on the back of the picture, which is why I kept it: Talk about poverty!

The House on Jericho Road

Found this photo of the paining of my beloved grandparents' home in Pennsylvania. Coming across this picture that Nana Irma took back in 2011 was a real find!

Before

Here is a phenomenal photograph of great-Grandad George, Aunt June, and my Grandad. I love how silly George seems in this, goofing around on the lawn with his kids. Totes adorbs...

A Made Man

Is it just me or does Bud look like a young gangster in this photo? All he needs is a newly healed broken nose...

The Happy Newlyweds

I don't think a groom existed that loved his bride more than Grandad Tom adored Nana Irma.

Aunt Cass - Bathing Beauty

I always thought that my Aunt Cass was one of the most stunning women I'd ever seen. She wasn't terribly warm, at least not to me, but she reminded me of Jackie Kennedy. Distant and strikingly attractive.

The Hylander's Home

These pictures are from Nana Irma's photo albums. They are of Bud and Blanche Hylander's home in York, Pennsylvania. My grandmother's style, in regards to her home, is so similar to this because she copied Bud's mother's home to the tee. Clearly Bud and Blanche kidnapped Aunt Helen's sense of decor and interior design as well. It may seem strange that these are the only photos taken of the Hylander Home, but my Nana was known for taking some strange pictures. It is one of her most endearing qualities.

Random Prom Pix

I have so many photos stashed away in albums and shoeboxes that never see the light of day. Prom photos are so "of the moment" that framing them and displaying them seems passé within weeks of their hanging. So....I have decided to scan 'em for y'all to view. I think the best era for Prom photos has to be the late 1980s and early 1990s. Oh the hair...the gowns...everything was so huge and outrageous. But fun! The best dress goes to my cousin Alina who brought the house down in stunning black and white and the best dressed fella has to be my Uncle Al. His jacket is perfection. Best hair goes to Nicole - she looks like a model for Italian Vogue.

Go ahead and scroll through and decide for yourself who you would nominate as King and Queen of the Prom.

Marina and Andreas - 2001 Junior Prom
Jenny and the dipshit she was dating that I clearly did not like.
Uncle Alan!! Love the light blue jacket. Very dapper.

Xavier and Giselle - 2002 Senior Prom
Mikey and Miranda - Junior Prom 2008
My cousin Pamela at her Junior Prom in 1990
Nicole before her Senior Prom in 2010
Kelley and some jackass - May 11, 1992
My father
Matt and Donna 1990
Michele (seated in the center) 1991. My god, the hair!
Will Gaymon - Senior Prom 2004
Jenn and Jason - Senior Prom 1994
Ashlee - 2008
Barb Dillenschneider & Keith Barber - Senior Prom 1994
Mum and John - Senior Prom 1970
Alina and Shane - 2011
Danny Garro - Senior Prom May 2001
Lori and Sean Mayo - Senior Prom 1994
Autumn and Scott - Senior Prom
(the only pix I took were Xave & Giselle, and Nicole)
