Everyone Loves Elijah Monroe

Earlier this year when I was at SLP I kept hoping to see Elijah Monroe, but alas, he never made an appearance. However...I did see that I am not the only guest of Barbara's that has had their heart stolen by that fuzzy little feline.

Quality Time

Jim Gaffigan is one of those rare comedians who never disappoints. Every new show is just as funny, if not funnier, than the last. He is a gift, he really is. Whenever I'm having a horrible day at work or just feeling crappy, he can always deliver some much needed laughs. I love this man.

Seen In Woolwich Township

(I'm fairly certain that this is a '68 Camaro. You can't really tell from the photos but the car was a gorgeous eggplant with red leather interior. Stunn-ing!)

Tacos at MOM's!

Who knew it was possible to make cauliflower, chickpeas, "kale slaw" and salsa verde into an explosion for the taste buds? MOM's Naked Lunch has added Tacos to their menu and it's pure perfection in messy-form.

I, Rhoda

How awful to lose Valerie Harper after all her years of surviving cancer. I thoroughly enjoyed her memoir (it's a no-brainer that I have the audiobook version). Rhoda was such a special character. She was always second banana to the flawless Mary Richards and I could so identify with her self deprecating humour and fabulous sense of style. Reading Valerie's book was such a delight because she definitely seems like a what-you-see-is-what-you-get kinda lady and I could definitely see myself sitting in her kitchen gabbing like old friends. Those are my favourite autobiographies - the ones where you feel instantly connected to the human that created characters that are so close to your heart.

List of Good Things

• simple things such as a sesame seed bagel with Miyoko butter and Crofter's strawberry jam (mmm....)
• watching classic movies on the big screen with someone who has never seen them
• daydreaming - always and forever the best thing
• when a baby reaches out for you to take them then lays their head on your shoulder (one of the best feelings on the planet)
• opening my mailbox and discovering a card, letter, or postcard that manages to instantly make me smile and turn my whole day around
• that cool breeze on a hot day that makes it a little bearable to be out-of-doors
• meeting someone you have admired from afar and finding them charming and kind (I'm lookin' at youse, Ann Jillian and John Waters!)
• going to my local market and seeing an employee's face light up when they recognise me (Bonnie at Wegman's and Alex at MOM's are two ladies whose smiles brighten my shopping experience and make me float on a cloud of happiness the rest of the day.)
• sitting in the kitchen at the old house with Mum watching You Tube clips of The Graham Norton Show and cracking up together
• a productive day off of work where I check off all the "to-do's" for the day and have time to put my feet up and watch old eps of Columbo

American Graffiti

With Summer coming to a close and school starting, Zach and I had to see one last classic film to finish off the season. What better choice than American Graffiti? He had never seen it and really liked it (how could he not?) and we talked about hot rod cars the whole way home as we listened to the soundtrack. It had been years since I saw this and oh was that Paul Le Mat a dreamboat or what? John Milner was my favourite when I was an awkward grade-schooler. Naturally he was Zach's fave character as well, since Milner is clearly the coolest cat in town.

(I love that The Blob itself approves of the popcorn - totes adorbs to the max!!)

(Why sit anywhere else?!)
