Giger Bar

My brothers and I are all fans of Giger's work, but none of us more so than Dave. He told me about this bar in Switzerland and oh my god almighty, this place is sick! It's absolutely spectacularly, frighteningly beautiful.

Jax and Vintage Toys - Part II

Here's a lil' home movie from January 2015. It was when Jackson got a chance to see and play with his father's 1980s toys, fresh from Mama Rose's attic. He was super excited (see Part I) and this little moment was too cute for me not to post here. It's hard to believe that he's only two in this video.

Luke Perry

Wow. I was so surprised to hear today that Luke Perry passed away. I knew he'd had a stroke last week, and a pretty bad one at that, but I just figured that he would recover, maybe have some Kirk Douglas-like speech issues, but make a full recovery. It's so hard to imagine that he wouldn't make it.

Freshman and Sophomore years of high school I was, like ba-jillions of other 14 and 15 year old girls, hooked on Beverly Hills, 90210. I had a poster of Luke on my teenage bedroom wall and other photos of the cast. Autumn and I constantly wrote letters to eachother proclaiming our love for all things Luke Perry and Jason Priestley, even sending eachother our favourite magazine pix of them both. I mean who could choose between these two gorgeous creatures? Autumn was the luckiest of them all because she went to Luke's old high school in Ohio. Here's the school newspaper that she sent me (how sweet was that?!?!) that told of a hometown boy that made it big.

It was so nice to see that in recent years he's had a resurgence in popularity with a whole new generation on the show Riverdale. As for me, he will forever be linked to my early teenage years and I'll never forget his role as Dylan on 90210.

Helena Bonham Carter

(I never quite know how I feel about HBC, but I sure as hell love the above quote.)

CCCP

From the mid 1980s all the way through the 90s my brothers, Amy, and I were all huge fans of UB40. My very first concert was With Dave and Wayne at the Mann Music Center in Philly June 9, 1990. This week I bought UB40 CCCP Live in Moscow (it's only $5.99!!) and it brought back so many memories. Hanging out with Amy in our teenage bedrooms we listened to the cassette while daydreaming about our one day marrying our favourite band member. (I fancied lead singer Ali Campbell and Amy had the hots for bassist Earl Falconer.) Not to mention the endless number of times we watched the VHS of the concert. I think one of the greatest things about music is its ability to transport you back and forth through moments in your life. This album holds up well and I still really love it.

Love, Gilda

What could be better than a documentary about the life of Gilda Radner? A documentary that shows childhood home movies and excerpts from her journals, that's what. Oh my gosh, little toddler Gilda will melt your heart. It was so nice to see more of Gilda's personal life but it still shocks me that she's not here anymore.
