Diane Arbus VI

This girl is fabulous in her gorgeous coat and long legs, resting her head on her arm with her ashtray and cigarettes as her companion in an otherwise empty bed. The crack in the wall, the thrift store painting on the floor, and the teeny tiny picture that hangs on the nearly vacant wall are what define this photograph. The girl is another strangely beautiful girl at the center of Ms. Arbus' piece, but she is a beautiful girl in a sad and lonely, broken down room. The slight curl of her lips lead me to believe that she is all too aware of her desolate surroundings. I love everything about this photo.
