I am addicted to this show. I don't have television, and haven't for over ten years, but I have a TV, a dvd player and a Netflix account. I also am good friends with people who do have television. Currently I am most of the way thru season one and am absolutely in love with the entire cast and every moment of raucous laughter they provide. Keep 'em comin' kids!

Diane Arbus VI
This girl is fabulous in her gorgeous coat and long legs, resting her head on her arm with her ashtray and cigarettes as her companion in an otherwise empty bed. The crack in the wall, the thrift store painting on the floor, and the teeny tiny picture that hangs on the nearly vacant wall are what define this photograph. The girl is another strangely beautiful girl at the center of Ms. Arbus' piece, but she is a beautiful girl in a sad and lonely, broken down room. The slight curl of her lips lead me to believe that she is all too aware of her desolate surroundings. I love everything about this photo.

Eternal Springtime
I love the movement and the grace of Rodin's work. This piece is without question one of his most exquisite.

Star, Artist in Residence
Sifting through some papers over the weekend I found some pictures that I had done last summer when I was hanging out with my cousin, Alina. I'm glad I saved this one, cause it's really kinda cute!

My Argentine Family
Few people know me as well as my cousin Marina. When she was in Buenos Aires she was perusing through an outdoor market trying to find a unique and perfect souvenir for me. She came across the above photograph and instantly knew that I would adore it. And I do. It is now framed and sits beside a photo of Marina in my sitting room.
I love the father, Juan as I call him, he's so stately looking and serious, however if you look closely you will notice he has his hand looped in his wife's arm. Juan may be a stern man, but he is loving and kind.

Another Find at Murphy's Loft
I was at Murphy's Loft the other day and discovered that they have tons of old postcards! Here's one that was mailed October 22nd 1931 to Mary B. Smith of Butler, Pennsylvania from her daughter Mary in Philadelphia. Mary wrote to inform her mother that she would be leaving in two hours to meet Jack in New York. I could sit and think for hours as to who Mary was and why she was meeting Jack in The Big Apple. Mary sure sounds like like a sweet Catholic girl...

Bogart & Noël
Humphrey Bogart to Noël Coward:
I think you are wonderful and charming, and if I should ever change from liking girls, you would be my first thought.

Karen's Japanese Maple
Tonight I picked Karen up at Philly International and when I dropped her back home I noticed her gorgeous Japanese Maple tree out front. The outside light illuminated the bright red leaves and pleaded with me to photograph them. Once I looked closer I noticed that the branches formed a sort of spiral and made it appear as though the light was the center of a spider's cobweb. Do you see it??

Berlin
Julian Schnabel said that Berlin is "about love's dark sisters, jealousy, rage, and loss." Man, that's good. So true and so beautifully put.

Grounds for Sculpture IV
Sunday was my fourth visit to G4S and I found that I didn't reach for my camera as much as on previous visits. I was more caught up in the changing leaves and the beauty of the day. However, there were a few pieces that I wanted to document for this little bitty blog o' mine! Here they be:
Susan Feliney - Wild Impulse
Various works by Deborah Butterfield
I love the movement of the horse lying down. I kept waiting for it to rock back and forth and then stand up.

Grounds for Sculpture III
Autumn at Grounds for Sculpture was spectacular on Sunday. Melissa and I were in awe of the trees in all their brilliant colours. The entire day I could hear Lou Reed's Perfect Day in my mind.

Rollin' Down South Street
It was the summer of '95 and Rachel and I had taken the speedline to Philly and walked from 8th and Market to South. South Street had the best shops in the city and the coolest vintage finds around. We were young and thrilled to be in Philadelphia. Walking down to Imagine for some tie dye scrunchies and old school tees, a car full of twenty-something guys rolled past blaring ♪"Heeeeyyy laaaadies!!"♫ and had everyone cracking up and chanting along to the classic kick-ass Beastie Boys song. It was totally the soundtrack to our day and who better than those sassy Beasties.

Sidney Lumet's Garbo Talks
The movie is just so good. It's a nice Saturday afternoon flick. Spoiler: the scene where Estelle finally meets Garbo is just beautiful. Anne Bancroft speaks for seven straight minutes without cutting away. She is completely captivating for those seven minutes and as far as I'm concerned, it is Ms. Bancroft's finest screen moment.

Fab Specks
I have been daydreaming for weeks about Madonna's glasses from way back when. I saw them with Marina at the shop the other day and I really really want them. I'm geek enough to rock the hell out of them!

Yusuf Islam
At work I've been listening to a lot of Yusuf Islam in order to get through my dull workday. He is a remarkable man whose words are as mesmerizing as his voice. Lately I've had In'Nilta stuck on replay because it's so damn good.
