The Last Goodbye

My brother Wayne is moving out of Hawkins this weekend so tonight was the last night he would be there to hang out. Marina and I rushed over after work and had a fabulously relaxing evening. We had beer, martinis (well, i'm the square in the family, so i just had ginger ale) and garlic knots, calzone, pizza, and delicious brownies.
We were trying to decide on a flick to watch when Marina admitted that she'd never seen Brian De Palma's Scarface. This is the girl who speaks fluent Spanish, has traveled to nine different Spanish speaking countries and is obsessed with the culture. But, in a good way. We were all stunned and declared that we would have to watch it. Clearly she loved it. As Xavier said, "Marine, it's a rags to riches tale."
The air was filled with a slew of somewhat atrocious Tony Montana impressions and lots of loud raucous laughter. It was one of those perfect nights that you wish could last so much longer.

it's a really good movie. it's over the top and extravagant and most of the young people today that like it are missing the entire point of the film. they see the decadence and power and not the misery that went with it.
