Alyssa Milano in Adidas!

(Seriously, when I first saw this picture I was like, that is the baddest, most coolest outfit ever. Is she wearing a wrist watch on her thigh? You're damn right she is. And her hair? Rag-tag and out of this world f-i-n-e, fine!)

Frank Meets Adichie

Saw this over on Abbey Christine's Clever Craft Blog (I was first introduced to her when I shopped at the Renegade Handmade shop in Chicago - online shopping, that is.) yesterday and loved it. I had completely forgotten all about Lisa Frank and her fun and, let's face it, outrageous, artwork from back in the day. I definitely had a ton of her stickers and if memory serves, a folder or two and maybe some pens and pencils... Anyway, this one spoke to me the loudest because I am a feminist that believes change needs to start with children and teaching them that masculinity and femininity are fluid. They are what you as the individual believe them to be. I am not considered feminine at all, but I am beyond any doubt, female, and I feel very feminine, even in my boyish looking clothes and hairstyle.

A huge shout out to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie for the above statement. You are a brilliant lady.

(I can't read the date of the postcard, but the stamp on it was first issued in 1972.)

Julie Ruin

I finally just said, "Eff it." and bought the Julie Ruin album. May is always a shitty month for me because my bday is at the end of May. I usually spend the weeks leading up to it reflecting on everything that I don't have, that I haven't done and convincing myself that I am a complete loser and a total failure. On a particularly bad day I went to Amazon and ordered the cd for a little more than eighty bucks. Wouldn't ya know that it arrived exactly on my birthday? And guess what? Adam Horovitz was right. The album is a fucking masterpiece and I love every blessed track.
