The Turkeys Are Coming!

Ha! The turkey's name-tag reads Ted. Adorable. I snapped this last year on my way in to a local-ish Trader Joe's. Man, I wish I knew how to draw...Ted is super handsome!!

BONUS! I walked in to TJ's tonight and they have this year's turkey announcement up and it's just as cute as last year's!

Wuthering Heights

I wasn't crazy about this novel but I adore the painting. It was one of about eleven that I bought online from Steve Keene in September-ish 2009.

Be Kind

I am so rarely kind to the person in the mirror. In fact, I rarely look. If I do, it's in pieces; to fix my hair, check my teeth, and make sure no boogies are in my nose. I make so many mistakes each day. Bump into furniture, bite my cheek, eat too much junk food, "forget" to exercise, stay up to late worrying about things getting worse, smoke too many cigarettes, even though I only have one or two a day, say the wrong thing, hurt someone's feelings when they take what I say wrong, and generally look like a dumbass. When I do these things I berate myself for being stupid and an idiot. Being kind to myself is a near impossibility because I really don't feel I deserve it. In an effort to try to change this, I'm gonna try to be more kind to that sad girl in the mirror.

Taylor Swift Mixola

Since Lucy likes Ms. Swift and I am rather indifferent, I decided to contact the two Swifties in my life - Melissa and Melanie - and ask if they could recommend some of her best tunes to create a mix to listen to when I hang out with Lucy. Melissa went bananas with a three hour plus mix. Here's what I whittled it down to, at just under an hour and a half:

Fortnight (feat. Post Malone)
Bad Blood
White Horse
Anti-Hero
Lover
...Ready For It?
All Too Well
willow
Our Song
loml
Look What You Made Me Do
Cruel Summer
Don't Blame Me
no body, no crime
You Belong With Me
I Can Do It With a Broken Heart
You're Own Your Own, Kid
Style
Love Story
Fresh Out The Slammer
marjorie
Mastermind
Shake It Off
Death By a Thousand Cuts
Picture to Burn
The Alchemy
Delicate
Blank Space

(When possible, they are all Taylor's Version.)

Rollie-coastering with VP

I ordered this super rad Riding Roller Coasters With Vincent Price zine from Etsy last month. It's so cute and artist Dayna/CatMothCrow did a great job on this pocket sized treat that I had to have. Definitely check out their website to get to know them a little better!

Stephen King Day at Reads

I missed out on the 50th anniversary event last month, but I sure did snap a lot of photos of the bookstore's killer window display!

Rick ♥ Ilsa 4ever

Today I dug out a couple boxes of old cards in an attempt to go through them and part with a bunch. AKA, tear 'em and trash 'em. Thankfully I found some from people I don't really talk to anymore so those were easy to toss. Others I will keep forever, such as the few from my father where he actually wrote his name rather than just my mother signing it from them both. Others to hang on to include all of Amy's and Bishop's cards over the decades, letters from my cousin when she was in rehab and we wrote back and forth a couple times a week, and the remaining letters from old pen pals and, of course, Nana Irma. But at the top of the pops is this card that Rick gave me back in 2006. It was hand made by one of the regulars at the café, a lovely woman named Mary Hartz, and she did an outstanding job. I know I've shared this card before on this blog, but here's the inside as well.
