Being that it is July, that I'm postmenopausal and still kicking off hot flashes with no warning, and that crowds give me the frets, I decided, like I have for the past five years, to celebrate Blobfest at home. As far as I'm concerned, it's way better than participating in the real thing. Maybe when I'm finally in my old shrew era and chilly all the time, I'll go to Phoenixville. For now, I'm steering clear. To start off The Colonial's 25th anniversary of Blobfest, I mixed myself a mock Blob-tail (essentially a Shirley Temple) and put on the library's Criterion Collection edition DVD of
The Blob. Doesn't matter how many times I've seen it, it is still such a fun flick. Tomorrow I will re-watch it with the commentaries and put on
Evil Dead II and
Flash Gordon since they are to be played over the weekend at the actual event. (
Sidenote: So this year's theme is Camp Blobfest. What in the actual hell does Flash Gordon have to do with Camp? Oh my gosh. I just got it. Because it's campy. Brilliant!) But for tonight, I'm queuing up a double feature of
The Addams Family, since I haven't seen either of them. It's only wise to watch the first film before the second. Right?
Look at how cute that lil' Blobber is!!!!!!! AND they're bilingual!
Photos from videos of last night's run out, kidnapped from the Blobfest Instagram account. It does look fun....
post script: I couldn't really get in to The Addams Family last night so I watched Flash Gordon in all it's silly, campy, glory!! Brian Blessed FOREVER!!!
