The Poconos in Autumn
Yesterday Kayla and I hopped in my Chevy Trax rental and went to Jim Thorpe for the day. We stopped at MOM's in Bryn Mawr for a sushi bowl and cold brew for Kay then continued on to JT where we luckily found a spot in a very crowded parky lot by the train line. We hit up our usual hot spots - the Emporium of Curious Goods, what used to be Muggles Mug coffee joint, and Seller's Books. The Emporium was a big disappointment and we couldn't find a single thing worth buying. Then we went to Muggles which was a complete mess and they no longer played Harry Potter films (but they were showing Halloweentown). Kay enjoyed their coffee and I used the peepod, so it wasn't a total loss. Then it was to Seller's where I saw some really interesting books but only bought a copy of Zane Grey's Riders of the Purple Sage, an outstanding Western. Kay had luck and picked up a book for herself (The Cruel Prince) and one for Kenny. Next we found that the Irish shop was closed, the vinyl store didn't have the Post Malone record Kayla wanted, and we both felt rather let down. But the Autumn colours were in full glory and we booked a 45 minute scenic train ride. Of course we were first in line at the wrong car and had to walk all the way back up the track to the right one and got one of the last seats - on the side that showcases a rock wall for damn near the whole ride. What a waste! But as always, the best part of the day was just driving around and hanging out with the coolest chick in the universe. Oh, and we grabbed some goodies at Vegan Treats on the way home. Score!
