Living the...

Life is really hard. Even as a fortunate, moderately healthy, reasonably employed person who has a safe place to live with food and friends and family, it is still hard. I started this post in July of 2024 and only got as far as six before I gave up and decided I'd finish this later. Every time it would appear under my Drafts, I would see it and think about completing it, then get stumped again. I try to be positive but sometimes everything feels like utter shit and anxiety strikes with the fear that it will never get better. There's no magical wand to wave and bring joy back into my life, or peace to this world, but regardless, here's how I'm living my best life:

Last Year (but still relevant!)
• using the Finch app to track all the little things I need to do for myself and making sure they get done
• keeping in touch with friends and family even if it's only over FaceTime or texting or by post
• anytime I get a chance to see Fred at Baldwin’s Book Barn, because he comes across as such a genuine and kind man
• going through all the stuff at my place - clothes, books, kitchen-ie things, beauty products, and everything in between - and passing them along to my fave people and donating the rest --- it feels good to let go of things and give them a new home
• having someone like Kay in my life, especially how well she knows me and can make me feel better with just a few words (from 27 September 2024)

The Right Now
• looking forward to returning to Ohio for a handful of days in October - I'll get to see Maureen, Autumn, and Chagrin Falls again!
• listening to a bunch of Mike Hammer audiobooks, all read by the inimitable Stacy Keach
• driving to MOM's in Bryn Mawr every weekend to get lunch, usually a Jammed Yam, and falling totally in love with Phineas' freezing cold AC
• Finally, after two years, vacuuming all the dust-jackrabbits (they were like small tumbleweeds!) off my desk and giving it a good cleaning so that I can finally use it again. (At the moment I am working on colouring in cards that will be given to children in hospitals across the country. I wanna get a big, fatty stack of them together before I send them off.)
