Boy Crazy Girls

So Marina is currently obsessed with all things Aaron Paul. Our texting convo the other night had us both blushing from embarrassment at admitting that even though we are no longer in high school, we can still get serious boy crushes.

The Fridge at 21

(clearly I was visiting as is made evident by the Suja Elements drinkie and the coconut milk yogurt. - FYI, those lil' plastic polar bears way in the back of the top shelf hold baking soda and keep this refrigerator fresh and delightful!)

How to Stop Rape

This is what society should be teaching. Tell males to stop raping, don't tell females how to avoid being attacked. No one tells children to stop being cute and helpless so they aren't a target for kidnapping and molestation. That's because everyone knows that the fault is never, ever placed on the child. Blaming the child would be unthinkable, absurd, and totally backwards, but for young women and adult females, more often the finger is pointed at them; the shame is directed at their actions rather than the attacker. It's despicable. It needs to stop.

The List

Over the years I had torn out pages from magazines that listed the 10, 100, 25, et cetera best movies lists. Best horror, indie, gay, classic, groundbreaking, you name it, I tore that list out and stuffed it in a box. Then in 2008 I was on unemployment (such a beautiful and blissful time...) and decided to write down the films and watch as many as possible. Big Magic

I loved Elizabeth Gilbert's previous books, Committed, and Eat, Pray, Love so over the next handful of days I'm cracking open my copy of Big Magic. I need a lil' shove in the creativity department and hopefully this will serve as inspiration. Actually, I need to address my fear first, since that is what is forever holding me back from everything. Apparently this book will help with both issue. Result!

(post script - April 23, 2018 I finally "read" this via audiobook and was thoroughly disappointed - it was so cheesy that I immediately took it and two other lousy reads to MOM's library to donate them and get them out of my house.)

Everwood

Over the weekend I started re-watching season one of Everwood. My parents and I watched it eons ago and it was seriously such a great show. Y'all know how I love some prime-time wholesome family television programming and this one ranks up there, just under Signed, Sealed, Delivered. (Sidenote: I could not get over how young Chris Pratt was in Everwood!! Total craziness.)

Chanticleer Ruins

I kinda figured that the ruins at Chanticleer would be fake, and they are, but regardless, I think they're pretty cool.

The Trio

Hooray!! Today I get to see these three fabulous kids and then hang out all day with Miss Ashlee. Just the two of us, since Sean wants some one on one time with his daughter. Ashlee and I can't wait to have some alone time with zero distractions.

(sadly these plans were dashed once i got in an accident and totaled my car...)

Office Fridges

The first one is my wee lil' personal fridge. I should have snapped the photo in the AM when it was filled with a Lentil and Spinach Burrito (Moshe's are the best!), two cans of La Croix (I'm addicted to them), a Suja Elements Mighty Greens juice, and my So Delicious chocolate coconut milk box. Oh well...
The second pic is of the actual office floor's fridge, which I was stunned at how much stuff was in it.  Guess people don't take things home at the end of the day.

Lady Dynamite!

Oh how I do so love Ms. Maria Bamford... In my down time at work today I managed to catch an episode or two of her new Netflix series, Lady Dynamite. It's zany and odd, original and awkwardly bizarre, but most of all it is goofy and fun. Can't wait til I get the chance to kick back and see every gloriously hilarious ep!

Chanticleer

On Saturday morning Anne arrived at my doorstep promptly at 9:30. We then hopped in Duke and arrived to Chanticleer in a mere 45 minutes. I love the Main Line, which is just outside the city limits of Philadelphia and had never heard of Chanticleer until Mum mentioned it a few weeks back. It's a charming garden that Anne and I just adored. We've been to Longwood Gardens, Morris Arboretum, Winterthur, and were most impressed by Chanticleer.

The Redwoods

If I ever get the chance to return to San Francisco, I am definitely going back to Muir Woods and taking that walk up to the tippie top to look out above the trees. They are magnificent.

Brendan

Sometimes I forget just how incredible and authentic Brendan Sexton is, how he can take a small, seemingly insignificant role and make it memorable, that is, until I re-watch something like The Killing. Brendan has the quiet ability to be real and effortless in his acting so that he blends in and moves the story closer towards perfection. Even in films that I wasn't super crazy about, Brendan is always able to shine like no one ever has or will.

Grace and Frankie

I am so impressed with this series. I love that it showcases a different age group. I mean, I like twenty-somethings and parents, but geez Louise, it seems like that's all that's available on TV. It's seriously refreshing to see these two fab ladies in such a wonderful and well written show. Oh, and I do love those guest stars, like Sam Elliott and Marsha Mason - Marsha Mason!!! - and Ms. Swoosie Kurtz, who I adore. I've got a few more episodes left of season two and I kinda don't want it to end...
