Judy Garland

The most fabulous performer of all fabulous performers who have ever walked the earth. She was terribly talented, deeply flawed and easy to adore; and I always have. Cheers, Judy, and Happy Bday!!

  1. Are you ready for your six degrees of separation from Judy Garland???

My English friend Ernest met her. She was performing in a club (probably London I don't remember) where they have tables around the stage. Judy came down to the edge of the stage and sat on Ernest's table and sang to him!

  2. that is so weird! i worked with a woman who had a similar experience - when nora was little her mum and aunts went to AC and judy came out before the show and walked around to the tables. she stopped & asked little nora what song she wanted to hear. so i am officially ONE degree from judy garland! yay for us both!

  3. Hi, Ernest here. Cerpts nearly got the story right. I saw Judy at her second night at The Talk of the Town in London in early 1969. It was one of her good nights perhaps fuelled by many celebs and old friends (like Lionel Stander) in the audience. Our table was right up against the stage and Judy walked onto the table, clearing the crockery with her foot, sat down two foot in front of me and my date (where are you today Chrissie?) and sang "Over the Rainbow". You couldn't buy a memory like that. Years later I had the privilege of meeting Ginger Rogers - it was magical but didn't top the Judy experience. If we're playing the "degree" game, I have a good one, I am officially two degrees away from Wyatt Earp!!!!
