Book Shoppin' with Kay!

Yesterday Kayla and I finally got to see each other for the first time since October of 2015 (!!!) due to several failed attempts and last minute cancellations. We more than made up for lost time and had lunch at B. Good (love their Kale Crush smoothie!!) then stopped at a local B&N to wander about. But the best part is just being together, talking about anything and everything, plus daydreaming about visiting Australia together when she finishes high school. She's such an awesome lady and I know we would have a blast!

(another fab book of poetry that kay recommended and reminded me that "hey! that's in my amazon cart!")

Take a Peek!

Mostly everyone is curious about other people's medicine cabinets, so I thought I'd share mine with you. The first is before I cleaned it and turned the embarrassing items around to display the labels.

Martin Clunes

I love me some Animal Planet and a good runner up is definitely any show that might be found on Animal Planet. Netflix currently has a slew of fab Martin Clunes animal shows and I binged on them all! A more endearing and charming host you could not find. Clunes has a delightful sense of wonder that's utterly infectious. I absolutely adore this man. If you find several hours of free time, get thee to Netflix and watch Mr. Clunes in all the documentaries they've got. You'll love every damn minute, I promise you.

Peekin' in Positano

On my trek down to the beach I snapped this photo of a random half opened door and a mini staircase. I love how dull and sad it is.

Right

Oh man, so I did another Fishs Eddy order (I adore that shop) and so wanted to get this mega cool Wayne White tray all for myself, but at nearly twenty-three bucks, I had to remove it from my cart... Maybe next time around.

Frank Ocean

On our way back from Abington last Saturday afternoon, Bishop told me about Frank Ocean. I'd never heard of him, but quickly looked him up and cannot wait for Channel Orange to arrive. Bish told me of an article he read entitled Frank Ocean Doesn't Owe You Anything. I finally got around to checking out the article and it brought up so many brilliant points.

But here’s the thing: No matter how much he jerks his listeners around, Frank Ocean doesn’t owe us anything... No one deserves new music from Ocean, even if his old material occupies a significant space in their life.

We might form deep connections to art, but the people who make it aren’t our friends. As listeners, we’ve grown entitled to the point where broken promises sting, and missed deadlines can cause us to worry about an artist’s well-being.

It's so true that as fans, we can be kind of demanding and throw mini temper tantrums if our beloved artists don't produce exceptional music as soon as we wish them to do so. Remy Shand and Kate Bush were two that came to mind. However, as fans, we often forget that these musicians have lives to lead and our need for a new album every year takes a back seat to their need to create something real for them or to simply spend time with their families and live their lives. So while Frank Ocean absolutely positively does not owe us anything, there's nothing wrong with the world wanting more of him. Or of me wanting a new Grizzly Bear album tomorrow.

Stranger Things

Always late to the ball, I am only just now getting a chance to catch this super fab Netflix show. I've only had the opportunity to see a handful of episodes but it is proving to be the perfect Summertime show.

Naptime!

This pic of Sean and Bailey just made me "awwww..." out loud as soon as I saw it. I love how hands-on Sean is and that he genuinely likes being a father to a little girl. I feel like most dads are disappointed when they have a daughter and not a son. Sean wanted a girl from the very start.

Bryn Mawr with Jackson

Sunday I spent the afternoon with Jackson. He is so much fun to be with; just like hanging out with a friend, an equal. He's four and a half but acts like a grown up. I never had to correct him or tell him to stop doing something like running ahead of me on the street or throwing stuff at the restaurant. We had such a good time just hanging out together and chatting. One adorable moment was when we were driving him home and Jax asked, "are we going on the highway?" So I told him that yeah, we were about to get on 295 and Jackson morphed into a 67 year old man and said, "I hear they're doing a lot of work on that road." He seriously cracked me up the whole day.

Another kid that I got to fall in love with Peanut Butter Bomb cake!!

Sunday is for selfies!!

Back to the Old Cliché

Back in the day, before Kat and Marina had kids, we used to be obsessed with playing Draw Something. Since Marina has moved to Queens, we will be seeing less of eachother and so she thought it'd be good for us to take up one of our old games. She suggested Hanging with Friends and I said maybe we could do Draw Something as well. Then I remembered that back in the day, sometime in December of 2012, I drew the cutest, bestest, most awesomest caveman ever. I scrolled through my old screenshots and found him! Isn't he hilarious? I can't believe I hadn't posted this pic before because it just makes me smile. I can't believe I actually drew him! Let's call him Douglas, shall we?

Heart Beet with Kat

Finally got a chance to meet up with Miss Kathryn and her lil' ones for some fab eats at Heart Beet Kitchen. This time I remembered to take pictures. Not only do their dishes look like art work, they are simply delicious. Then we hustled on down to Sweet Freedom Bakery for some dessert and selfies with Evie. She is such a little sweetheart.

Bring on the Nyucks

It's been a crummy past few days for the family and I was worried that my 15 year old nephew, MJ, wouldn't be up to hanging out on Sunday, as we had planned. Champ that he is, he said he was still good to go. (He just got a new jobbie and they were decent enough to give him off work for the next handful of days which means we can relax and spend as much time together as we like.) Always the girl who tries to make everyone laugh through saying absurd things, I had this texting communique with him:

Paul F. Tompkins

This is thee most dapper and dashing gent I've seen in ages. His suit is pure perfection. It's pansies and gumdrops and rollercoaster rides all rolled into one. I absolutely love it and he looks spectacular.

Drawing with Ed Emberley!

Saturday night I scored some quality time with two of my fave kids, Sydney and Jackson. The best part of the night was when my sister-in-law said she texted Syd (who was up in her room) to let her know that I was here and she came right down to hang out. Made me feel like I just drank a big mug of hot cocoa (vegan, of course).

While the grown ups napped (at 9pm) and played on their phone in the other room, we three young 'uns were in the kitchen busy creating mini masterpieces. It was loads of fun and I even got a great big monkey hug from Syd before she went to bed. She may be 16 but she feels lighter than Jackson and I totes carried her around the house as if she were five. I so love the kids in my life. They are all individually fantastic and loving and crazy fun to be with.
